The SSDT installer must be downloaded from Microsoft. SSDT is a standalone application in that since SQL Server 2012, is not included in the SQL Server installation media as was the case with BIDS in SQL Server 2005 through SQL Server 2008 R2. Additionally, SSDT can be used to create SQL Server Database Projects where DDL for the various objects related to a solution can be created, managed, compared along with the ability to create point-in-time project-level snapshots. SSDT can be used to create Analysis Services, Integration Services and Reporting Services projects just as its predecessor BIDS. Web available for download, so it looks like i will require Standard. Versions of VS 2012 that support SDT are Enterprise, Business Intelligence, Standard, Web, and Express with Advanced Services. Microsoft has older versions of Visual Studio To create the packages i need SSDT inside VS. This article it started with 2005, but 2012 changed things significantly. What do i need to do that? Can i get in online? Do i need Windows? And once i have a way to create and run them, are there any examples out there that i can run and test myself? Anything related that With all that, i am looking to gain experience in SSIS. Ultimately, i think i have a Windows box in storage, or perhaps i could borrow one from a friend. I installed the SSIS package, but then realized it will only run them, notĭesign them. I am currently using my Ubuntu laptop with SQL Server installed, and it runs very well, the lack of a GUI front-end notwithstanding. So, i think i best gain some experience in it. One place called me and the dealbreaker was the lack of SSIS experience. I've seen requirements for 2-3 years, 5 years, and 7 years in SSIS.
At best, i used DTS a few times however many When i find SQL Server developer jobs, a lot (most?) of them want SSIS experience. I am currently unemployed and looking for a database developer job, mostly SQL Server or Oracle.
